We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Thanks for raising this. I'll see if we can do anything about it and report back.

DNA Family Secrets - BBC

Re: Edward Jopling/Jobling 1828-1892

Have you thought of contacting the Durham Mining Museum and see if they have any information?

They have quite a detailed website as well.

Re: Arthur Kemp Norwich

I didn't have a look any further but it may be worth doing a search to see if there are any other articles about him or the family.

If the family were well known as local tradesmen there may be an obituary for him.

Re: Arthur Kemp Norwich

You haven't given any indication as to how much information you have on him already so you may have this. The 1939 register shows him living at 20 Westlegate with Maurice R Kemp (dob 17.2.1906) who's lived as a Master Coal Merchant and single. Arthur (dob 28.11.1878) is listed as a Master Greengroce...

One of the celebs is Alan Carr who was featured on WDYTYA some while ago. He was one of the few celebs they had who I really didn't like. He seemed to be proud of an ancestor who was a deserter from what I remember.

Many thanks.

I tried to access via my saved link and I couldn't get anything - got a message saying it wasn't avilable. Doing a new search and it's come up.

Re: London Soldiers' Home

Wouldn't at least one party have to have an address within the parish the church was situated in? If they had both given addresses in Colchester wouldn't that have precluded them from marrying elsewhere?
