We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Images on FMP and ancestry
I have tried to download them and then tinker with them on my pc but I think that the base image itself causes me problems if it is not too clear. I do find the tool where you can change the image to a negative quite useful at times.
Thanks for the input folks.

Re: Images on FMP and ancestry
Hi Adrian, Thanks for this. It certainly appears that FMP is clearer. It is interesting to see the same 2 records side by side and I can see how in some instances the Ancestry would be easier. I suppose I am now used to Ancestry but can certainly see also the benifts of FMP having it presented in a ...

Images on FMP and ancestry
Hello all, I currently only have a sub to Ancestry and am curious to know if anyone has both FMP and Ancestry and has compared images side by side from the WW1 service records set. I am struggling to decipher some information on one set and wondered if FMP may offer a higher quality image, but I am ...

Re: I need to rant!
Hi phsvm, I work in the financial industry and this is a common complaint to us. Unless the cheque is a very, very old type that specifies the expiry on it, (normally 6 months but sometimes it can vary), there is no expiry times on cheques now. This was removed some time ago now. If it has been reje...

Re: Cost of living
Hi Guy,
That is certainly the sort of thing I had in my memory. I must be remembering incorrectly and merging sites.
Many thanks for posting this again, I'll make sure I save the link again.

Re: Cost of living
I have found this before when looking at these, it is a very rough guide. Some things hardly seem to change and other seem to bounce around by quite a bit. My beer in a local chain pub is cheaper now than I can remember buying pints years ago. I just find the coins I have interesting and am trying t...

Re: Cost of living
Hi Mo, Thanks for these, I had found these on my searches and they arean interesting read. I am certain I had a link saved once that was for a site that had a "spreadsheet" style layout which gave rough approximations for weekly wages for a range of differing jobs and then a average basket...
