We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Old Palace School Project

We finish the project where the whole story started, with the 34th and final biography of ALL the 34 Firemen and Firewomen who died at the Old Palace School Bombing during the Blitz in WW2. This is the story of my Great Aunt, Winifred Alexandra Peters, nee Wootton. It has been a long and emotional j...

Re: WDYTYA - 23 June - Anna Maxwell Martin

Just watched the Anna Maxwell Martin episode and one of the most relatable and emotional ones I have ever seen. Really tough family upbringing on both sides of her family but refreshing to see a more normal life story recounted, one of the best episodes across all the series.

Re: 1921 census talk

Just a quick question, there is probably an obvious answer and if anybody will know it’s someone on here. We have to wait 100 years for a census release here in the UK due to privacy issues yet in the USA they are about to launch the 1950 census, is it simply different legislation in different count...

Re: 1921 census review

I am a Pro Subscriber of Find My Past. They say that this entitles me to a 10% discount on the 1921 census transcription and the image. My bank statement does not show any discount. I have been charged the full amount. How is that? It may only be 10% but that would add up over the number of records...

When All You Need is a Little Prompt

Last week I asked all my friends for some ideas and prompts of what to tackle with my genealogy blog. I am just at the end of writing the life stories of my 16 x great grandparents and was looking for a new challenge. My friends on #AncestryHour never let me down so I gave captured all the ideas, pl...

Re: Unusual Grave Markers, Can anybody help?

Thanks everyone for all the responses to my question, I think that as was stated here, the majority of the symbols was the stone mason showing off his talents. The fleur de lys was interesting and I did wonder if there were Hugeneot connections? I have passed on all the comments to the lady in quest...

Re: Unusual Grave Markers, Can anybody help?

Thanks Mick, much appreciated for that. I have no idea why the same family would have the IHS symbol and the fleur de lys?
