We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Planned destruction of wills by Ministry of Justice
I have just signed the Petition against the destruction of Wills. I run two Family History groups locally so I will encourage everyone to do likewise. It is important to prevent this. If it went ahead, what would be next?

Re: Errors in trees on subscription sites
Apologies for the delay in thanking you for your comments - I've been a bit tied up with other things. I didn't mean to imply that nine children was ridiculous. My comment was related to the fact that MyHeritage had found these additional children seemingly out of thin air. I have since found where ...

Re: GRO (England & Wales) Digital Images
Just a little tip. When you access your digital certificate, it is useful to take a screen shot first before printing otherwise you do not get the headings for each column. I know that is not essential but it just looks more like a certificate.

Straightforward as far as I am concerned that these other children were half siblings. All the fami...

Re: Ordering a Will
I have been able to purchase wills from County Record Offices rather than the Govt. site. Of course I suppose it it depends on when Probate was granted. For example, I have one very long and detailed will of my gt gt grandfather that only cost me £5.00 for the photocopying and p&p. Another Recor...

Ancestry's Shoebox
I saved some documents in Ancestry's Shoebox while my printer was having a few days off! Today, I tried to retrieve my documents to print them but cannot find Shoebox anywhere. I've tried all sorts of things but still cannot find it. Any suggestions as to where it has disappeared to would save me a ...

Re: WDYTYA - 26 May - Sue Perkins
Although I enjoyed the episode, I found what appears to be an error a bit annoying. The person telling Sue Perkins that her ancestor was one of the country’s first trained midwives - in 1928 or 1929 - is a bit of an exaggeration. The Midwives Act of 1902 brought about the formation of the Central Mi...
