We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Planned destruction of wills by Ministry of Justice
I have just signed the Petition against the destruction of Wills. I run two Family History groups locally so I will encourage everyone to do likewise. It is important to prevent this. If it went ahead, what would be next? Thank you. As you say what next set of records would be digitised and the ori...

Re: Heighley
I would be suspicious of the alleged links, the article on Wikipedia (which should be checked against other sources like the Victoria County History). DNA links should in my view be checked against original sources. The castle was demolished in the 1640s.

Re: Planned destruction of wills by Ministry of Justice
Thank you for signing the petition. TNA have decided this is nothing to do with them!!. Many years ago details of Civil Service pensions were put on microfilm and the original files destroyed but after a few years the microfiche faded and the microfilms had to be copied and put back into paper form.

TNA new releases
TNA have released 46 closed files with details of people applying for compensation during the years 1964-1966 as alleged victims of Nazi persecution. I had to ask TNA twice to put the names in the catalogue. Next January there will be up to 577 names, some are Jewish people and other are British peo...

Quite right, researchers need to go to the original sources. There are various books like 'Who Was Who' which list the descendants of the aristocracy.

There is a petition for Parliament to stop this crazy and destructive plan is stopped. We need to get another 9000 or so signatures to get it discussed in Parliament.

Re: Lack of Matches
Well, I’m glad to hear that Adrian, purely for my own selfish reasons of course. :D it reassures me a bit. I know the science is 100% but it’s the interpretation that’s a bit unreliable. Current gripe concerns the child of a pair of my first cousins - he’s described by the website as my half nephew...
