We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Sarah Parmiter died Rome 1906
I tried Anna Parmiter with variations on both names, looking for death records in France. 29 come up - many of which show Anna etc as the mother of a child who died. Nothing looks like her - I have less than zero knowledge of how comprehensive that data is. (It picks up surnames like Parmetier, Parm...

Re: Samuel Allcock 1753
... Be very wary of that new viewer. Bit harsh. Nothing to be wary about, it's not perfect of course. I don't use it very often, but it has its uses. ... If it's now handling multiple places on one "film" correctly then - good. However, it appears that one thing still to be wary of is thi...

Re: Samuel Allcock 1753
... I wasn’t aware of that method of viewing films, useful tip, thanks Be very wary of that new viewer. FamilySearch have been working on it for years (literally) and every time I think they've got it right, I find an example of a "film" where it's as much use as the proverbial chocolate ...

Re: POW records
... Eh, isn’t that what I said? I never mentioned the rights to the data, just their film😀 Ah - you were more careful than I realised. ;) What led me astray was... then they [FamilySearch] block browsing access to registered users trying to access them .. because it's not FS that drives that blocki...

Re: POW records
You’ll find the same thing happens with FamilySearch films. If they ‘sell’ the rights to a film to the likes of FMP or Ancestry, then they block browsing access to registered users trying to access them You have it slightly wrong way round. FS don't own any rights to the intellectual property on th...

Re: POW records
... TNA don't care about researchers but make researchers pay for access to the records, shameful. I've said it before and I'll carry on saying it - those who want free access to historical data via websites never answer the question about how to pay the IT personnel who create and maintain the web...

Re: Fold3 - New UK Military Records (WW1)
I don't recognise those words as relating to anything I was looking at - except badly. ;) My guess would be that's a transcript somewhere that's gone pear-shaped with an over-enthusiastic translation of the Rif (from Sco Rif maybe?) to Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. It surely can't represent a correc...

Re: Fold3 - New UK Military Records (WW1)
NB - for the above, I was looking at the images in Ancestry, so any transcription errors for there, or on other sites, I won't have registered.

Re: Fold3 - New UK Military Records (WW1)
Hmm. I don't see a reference to RIF for Royal Iniskilling Fusiliers on either of his two Medal Index Cards . I've seen the one for his 1914 Star and another for his BWM & VM pair. Nor do the two Medal Rolls mention the Royal Iniskilling Fusiliers. So I'm not sure what's going on - am I missing s...
