We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

Re: Murray, again
Haven't found any possibles anywhere in London/Middlesex. Lots up north but wouldn't that sort of detail be mentioned in the settlement papers? They like to find alternative parishes to hand problem families on to... Sorry for sounding resistant but I’ve seriously looked for any connections for this...

Re: Murray, again
I wondered about that, Mick - I've never been successful with older military records but I'll give it a go... Update: military records baffle me. Lists of names, nothing to make a connection with. Thomas is a bricklayer in later life, no hint of a military past, I'd imagine something would hav...

Murray, again
Apologies for bringing this family back to the board but here goes... Mo kindly found a marriage for Thomas and Jane Murray (nee Powney) for 1805 in Ealing, Middx and with the help of Jon* and Settlement/Removal docs I can say this couple had seven children: Mary c1813, Jane c1816, Thomas c1819, Sop...

Re: Lack of Matches
Well, I’m glad to hear that Adrian, purely for my own selfish reasons of course. :D it reassures me a bit. I know the science is 100% but it’s the interpretation that’s a bit unreliable. Current gripe concerns the child of a pair of my first cousins - he’s described by the website as my half nephew....

Lack of Matches
You know I dabble rather than focus on this DNA stuff so forgive what might be an obvious question BUT I’ve got a specific branche that doesn’t have any Ancestry matches and wondered if this is unusual? I appreciate that there are a large number of matches without trees (annoying) where they might b...

Re: Cloumarsh, Ireland
Thank you everyone. The question came from the hunt for clues to the origins of an Irish family. All official docs record ‘Ireland’ so I wondered if finding out more about their Irish landlord (lodging house) and very close Irish neighbours (there were quite a few) might be useful. Wouldn’t you head...

Re: Cloumarsh, Ireland
Thanks! I guess it’s a phonetic spelling but it’s a start. Thank you.

Cloumarsh, Ireland
Does anyone recognise the above please? It's place of birth for Thomas Ryan and family on the 1861 census for Isleworth but Google doesn't recognise it. All later census state 'Ireland'.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Yes, I know that, Mo. Thank you!
The info provided here has been great, all help is appreciated, but now I need to sort through it so I’m drawing a line under this thread. Thank you again.
