wedding photo

Post by windy 35 »

Hi,
Is anyone able to date this photo please?

We think it is an aunt who married in 1933 but the clothes look more 1920s. Any suggestions please?

Thank you in advance
wendy

Hello and welcome to the Forum

I am not an expert. The men's suits look 1930s. Remember the UK would still be in a period of relative austerity after the Crash, although by no means as bad as the USA, and it is possible that Sunday best was a few years old!!

I too am no expert, but my first impression is that it was in the 1920’s.
My parents married in the mid 1930’s, and their wedding photo’s looked more ‘modern’ than these women, whose dress has a distinct ‘old-fashioned’ look about them, especially the ladies hats!
