1921 Scotland Census details

Post by Thunder »

A very interesting article about the soon to be released Census, particularly on eligibility to National Insurance benefits, orphanhood and the number of children under 16. I don't recall that being on the 'England and Wales' Census. It is good that Scotland's People (SP) are charging £1.50 (as opposed to £3.50 by FMP) per image. I would add that the £15 daily charge to see the Census records at the SP on-site in Edinburgh covers access to all their records (e.g. BMDs) and records that are not available online due to data protection but are available to view on-site, there are some exceptions I believe on divorce records. A view to SP's home is well-worth it in it's own right, all those thousands of bound BMD registers (now digitally copied) in the Dome Room.Transcription should be better as the entries were done by typists who knew, of course, places in Scotland. Can't wait, won't be too long now.
