Arthur was born on 31st August 1888 in Masbrough, Yorkshire and died on 4th June 1967 in Worthing, Sussex.
He served in WW1 in the 1/2nd Battalion London Regiment. According to the London Gazette dated 22nd January 1916 he was a former cadet of the University of London Contingent, Senior Division and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 23rd Janaury 1916.
He was awarded the MC for his actions at Bullecourt, France as reported in the London Gazette dated 2nd December 1918. He was approved for the Silver War Badge on 3rd May 1920.
Any informaton regarding his service number and war service especially in relation to when he was injured would be gratefully appreciated.
We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

If his WW1 service record survived it should be on Ancestry. Also, check Find My Past for WW1 medical records, if there is one for him.
Update: Ancestry has his WW1 medal card, but a service number is not indicated. There is a WW1 Pension record for an Arthur Jarvis (no middle name).
FMP have a record for Arthur Stopford Jarvis, but again, no service number indicated. They also have a WW1 Medical Record for A S Jarvis (dated 1917).
The medical record indicates he had Myalgia in early 1917.

That will be because officers had no service number in WW1.
His personal files are at TNA under WO 374/37165 - this is only available at Kew.
Officers personal files from WW1 can be very interesting. They are not the official forms like Attestation Forms for Officers - those were all burnt in the Arnside St fire of WW2. They are what I like to think of as correspondence files - they put the flesh on the bones - except with the Arnside St fire, there are no bones! I have only seen one set of officer's files and they had all sorts of things like letters of complaint that he'd been promised a promotion that hadn't come through, etc., some highly dubious claims and counter-claims about payment of expenses, etc.
If there is no detail for the citation for the MC, there probably won't be any because details of recommendations went up in flames in ... Arnside St. That being so, you presumably need to look at the War Diaries - but officers stand a better chance of being mentioned.
