We welcome any query on Who When Where. If you have previously posted it on another forum (including the old WDYTYA forum), please state this in your opening post - this will save people redoing the research which has been done before: they can look at it and possibly go further with it.

The connection between the two Northey families as follows. John (farmer, born 1782) and Richard (labourer, born 1790) are brothers.

Parents: John Northey & Elizabeth Pengally (Married Feb 1782 at Germansweek)
John Northey - born 1782 (baptised Germansweek) (he's the farmer Sally found in the 1841-1851 census)
Elizabeth Northey - born 1783 (baptised Broadwoodwidger)
Mary Northey - born 1785 (baptised Germansweek)
Thomas Northey - born 1788 (baptised Broadwoodwidger)
Richard Northey - born 1790 (baptised Germansweek) married to Frances/Fanny Northey (1795-1862)

Parents: John Northey & Mary (Margery) Mason (Married Aug 1756 at Broadwoodwidger)
John Northey - born 1757 in Broadwoodwidger. Died 1816 in Germansweek. Married to Elizabeth Pengally.
Nicholas Northey - died before March 27, 1803. Married Elizabeth Tucker in 1788 in Exeter.
Thomas Northey - born 1760. Died 1842 near Germansweek, Married Francis Bickle in April 1795 in Broadwoodwidger.

Frances (Fanny) Northey was born October 1795 in Germansweek to parents Thomas and Fanny Northey (nee Bickle). She is most likely the grandmother of Jedi's Richard Northey chap (born 1858).

So if my calculations are correct, this makes Richard (born 1790) and wife Frances/Fanny (born 1795) first cousins? :?

Basically, most of the Northey folks (from Germansweek region) are descended from John & Mary/Margery Northey (nee Mason).
In 1776, this John Northey leased a farm called Hennard Gifford. This leased property lay in the manor of Southweek, which was owned by the Luxmoore family, The lease lasted 66 years and expired in 1842. This might explain why there are 40+ Worthey baptisms in or near Germansweek during that lease period.

If anyone is researching a DNA connection to this family, it may be complicated. Reason: John Northey (1757-1816) marred his sister-in-law (Grace) after his wife Elizabeth passed away. John and Grace had children, as well. So lots of mixed DNA going on.
